After learning from Ginger Moyer and working with her at the Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room since June, 2008, I have decided that I would like to bring the elegant afternoon tea into your home.
Imagine sitting down to a table set with beautiful linen tablecloths and napkins, glistening china and sparkling silverware. A themed center piece and the soft background music puts you into a wonderful mood. The aroma of scones baking in the oven is coming from the kitchen to your nose which makes your mouth water with anticipation. Providing you and your guests with an enjoyable elegant afternoon tea includes setting a proper tea table, preparation and serving of an assortment of food and teas, and leaving the kitchen the way I found it. When you schedule your tea party with me, I will guide you in the selection of foods to be served beginning with an appetizer, then finger sandwiches, fruit, scones with clotted cream and dessert. Selections are based on your tea party budget and the availability of seasonal items. Average cost per person for food is approximately $15.00 and up, depending on the menu selected and the amount of prep work involved.
SCONES: An English biscuit. It can be made sweet with sugar and dried fruits or non-sweet with herbs and spices. I prefer the sweet scones for an afternoon tea.
CLOTTED OR DEVONSHIRE CREAM: A heavy cream with the consistency of butter. It is only made in England. It comes from cows in the Devon region of England. Served with scones.
Please keep in mind that some food preparation will be done by me prior to the day of your party; however, to ensure freshness, there are some things that must be prepared or baked in your kitchen the day of the party. Therefore, adequate refrigerator space and access to a working oven are required. You may use your own china, linens and silverware or you have the option to rent mine.
